I’m not sure if it actually is underpowered, or just feels that way, but it would be nice if it was more obvious if this weapon was useful or not, though I’m not sure how to achieve it – possibly having a better perception of enemy health? Its special ability visibly knocked back enemies but it was hard to tell how much damage it did, and I never really felt like I was doing all that much more damage with this weapon than I was with my basic Axe. Scorching Zeal: I used this weapon several times and always found it to be very disappointing, as well as a bit odd that it cost more than Life’s Limb. It is simple and straightforward and works. It isn’t as strong as the top-tier weapons, but it is very handy against skeletons, lizardmen, and mages. Shieldbreaker: This weapon does exactly what it needs to do. Not quite as much damage as Life’s Limb, but its special is more visibly useful – though again, it was sometimes hard to tell how much damage I was doing with it. Thunderstrike: I only really used this weapon once, but I found it pretty decent.

However, I never really noticed the high tier attacks healing the wielder it may have happened, but I didn’t really notice it. Skeleton King Sword: One of the few later unlocks which stands up to the Blood Crescent and Life’s Limb, this weapon is very strong the mass life drain ability is quite handy. Indeed, as with Blood Crescent, you get this extremely early on, and it makes most later weapons feel disappointing. Not that it needs to be made any stronger this is one of the best weapons in the game. The special ability is a nice bonus as well, and I used it somewhat, though I have to admit it isn’t especially noticeable. Its extremely high base damage makes it an excellent weapon. Life’s Limb: This weapon is amazing from the moment you unlock it at the start of the game. It works well in the tension it creates between turning it in and using it and suffering the penalty from the curse. One problem with this weapon is that you get it quite early (or at least you can) and it is one of the best weapons in the game, making everything else you find later on feel a bit disappointing by comparison.įrost Fang: The sword you get during the Hero’s Remain quest is probably the best weapon in the game that I have used it does as much damage as Life’s Limb and has a very powerful bumper ability. I really never noticed it becoming anything interesting, which may have been why I didn’t use it.īlood Crescent: This is one of the best weapons in the game and allows for instant death dealing against pesky boss-types and high-hit point monsters.

Mortal Whimsy: This weapon is obtained pretty early on, but both times I ended up using it, it didn’t really impress me and thus I left it out. One question: as a mace, does it attack faster than other weapons? If so, that should be noted. That being said, I think it is fine as-is, and I’m sure some folks find it valuable. While I understand the design behind it, I just never ended up running it after the first couple times because either I’m in deep trouble, and thus likely to lose anyway, or I’m doing well, and thus the item sucks. Starting Equipment: I feel that once you get the first tier of better starting equipment, there is no value in the Axe, Mace, Medium Armor, Shield, and Sword cards, and they should either be removed from the equipment deck or warn the player if they are included, because they are useless after that point.ĭesperate Measures: I never really used this weapon, mostly because I try to avoid being at low health. Having beaten the game, I thought I'd give some more detailed feedback on some of the items.
